Markham Japan Karate Association is a not-for-profit organization and is a member of the Japan Karate Association (JKA) through the JKA Shotokan Karate-Do World Organization of Canada, JKA-SKD.

The Japan Karate Association has schools in over 100 countries and a dozen schools in the GTA. Belt levels obtaining through the Markham Japan Karate Association are recognized throughout the world.

 

Objectives of the Markham Japan Karate Association:

 

1. promoting interest in and the study and practice of martial arts, especially karate;

2. providing facilities for education and instruction in martial arts;

3. arranging matches and competitions, and establishing and granting prizes, awards and distinctions;

4. fostering goodwill and sportsmanship;

5. establishing health and athletic programs for benefit to the community;

 

and such other complementary purposes not inconsistent with these objects.
